About Me
Born in Brighton on a Friday (loving and giving for those of you who can’t remember your nursery rhymes) the oldest of three, grew up in a house with cats, a dog who thought she was a cat and an assortment of small furry animals.
Working life took me from the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, through the Housing Department at Brighton Council, then on to London and advertising, magazine publishing, and a long stint at PRS for Music (the Performing Right Society).
The thread through all of my working life has been a fascination with people, how they cope with their lives, and where possible helping them. Usually this would be a direct consequence of the work I was doing; helping homeless families in Brighton; sorting out queries and problems for music publishers and composers. Recent years found me more and more dissatisfied as my ability to help the individual became outweighed by the larger concerns of the corporation and of course cost cuts!
The shift that caused me to start exploring complementary therapies was one of those odd bits of synchronicity that happens sometimes.
The frankly dramatic effect of TFT was demonstrated to me when I was in the middle of a disastrous relationship. It was first time I’d had my heart broken; (believe me, when it happens to you in your forties it’s probably more devastating than if it happens in your teens.) I literally didn’t know what to do with myself. I remember sitting at work, only able to wipe my desk dry, my brain would not function. Now I’ve always been a very practical straight forward sort and being completely side swiped by this confused me.
Luckily for me during this time a friend had already spent some time exploring some complementary/alternative therapies and she was very happy to help me out. The treatment that completely stunned me was Thought Field Therapy. She gave me the tapping routine for trauma with anger and told me the next time the crying started to concentrate on the emotion and tap. Which I duly did, with the most amazing results; I stopped crying – instantly. The thoughts hadn’t gone, I didn’t suddenly forget all the horrible things the idiot had done, but I could think about them rationally and start the rather more useful process of accepting what had happened and working out how I was going to move on. I used the routine I’d been given a lot over the next few weeks and went from wreck to rather more rational human being.
Completely separately I attended one of Paul McKenna’s Weight Loss Days – the most fascinating part of which was the half an hour during which Kevin Laye talked to us and about and demonstrated Thought Field Therapy. I knew this stuff! It was what had got me through a broken heart – I wanted to know more. By the end of that year I had signed up to train with Kevin and my new journey was well under way.
After that I set about training in this new discipline and adding in other exciting techniques until I had the spectacular tool kit that I now use.
Qualifications
I am a Master Meta Changework Practitioner which means I have completed post-graduate training in Thought Field Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Hypnosis, Energy work, Linguistics and Business Practice.
In addition to my MMCP qualification I have done further training in the following disciplines:
Thought Field Therapy is an amazing tapping therapy that can shift the thoughts andemotions around fears, phobias and anxieties. I am trained to Dx (diagnostic) level, which means I can diagnose the precise sequence you need to unlock peace. My Dx training was done with Roger Callahan Ph.D, the man who is the founder of and world’s top authority on Thought Field Therapy.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming has at its root the basic principle that it is in an individuals power to change their own subconscious programming for the better. I trained with Richard Bandler, one of the men who co-created the field of NLP in the early 1970′s; Paul McKenna, one of the UK’s best known hypnotists ; and Michael Neill, the awe-inspiring Life Coach.
Which leads me neatly to another aspect of the tool box of skills that I have; working with Michael Neill at seminars including his Coaching Mastery workshop and Transformative Coaching, I have lots of practical ways to help you put your newly discovered peace and calm to good use in your new life.
I also use Reiki and have recently been attuned to 2nd Degree; I love that there is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.
